Job Description:
Provides professional, technical, planning, design, project management, and construction administrative work on a wide variety of projects relating to municipal facilities (buildings, grounds, cemeteries, etc.). May occasionally be required to provide technical and project management services for horizontal or marine infrastructure projects. Duties include conducting research, field verification, data collection, performing evaluations, planning, design, drafting, construction inspection, survey, contracting, and project management; all other related work as required; all other related work as assigned.
Position(s) funded 100% through the Barnstable Capital Improvement Project funds. Elimination of this funding will result in elimination of this position and separation of the employee from this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and three to five years of progressively responsible relevant experience in the design, construction and supervision of construction of buildings in Massachusetts; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Class D drivers license required.
Registered Architect License preferred, at a minimum must be working towards architectural registration.
Additional Qualifications:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Architecture, and of the materials, methods and techniques of public works. Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations governing public construction. Technical knowledge and experience in design, construction and inspection problems commonly encountered in municipal design and construction activities. Knowledge of Massachusetts procurement laws, contract administration and project management. Working knowledge of computer applications related to architectural functions.
Ability to plan, design, and manage complex projects. Ability to interpret and follow engineering and architectural plans. Ability to develop and effectively manage construction budgets. Ability to conduct cost analyses, value engineering and cost management for large-scale construction projects. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports. Ability to prepare and administer grants. Demonstrated ability to meet and deal appropriately and effectively with a large variety of people. Demonstrated ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinates; and to evaluate their performance. Ability to work in a close-knit, team environment.
Strong communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, database, PowerPoint, AutoCAD Architecture Software, and engineering design software. Team oriented attitude.
